I am a high school English Language Arts teacher in a small high school in western Nebraska. I am in my 4th year of teaching, and I came to teaching after a satisfying career in nursing. While nursing was a good career, and I enjoyed it, I did not feel that it was my calling. After 3 years in high school education, I feel that I am doing what I am supposed to be doing, and see myself in the high school classroom for the rest of my years.
I am married with 4 children: 2 grown step sons and 2 middle schoolers, a boy and a girl. The kids are my life, my inspiration, and I believe are going to be the death of me. My husband is a heavy equipment operator and my rock.
My educational philosophy revolves around more than teaching reading and writing strategies. I am committed to teaching students to think for themselves. When they leave me, I want them to be able to tell not only me but anyone who asks "what they think and why they think it."
