My background: I taught Elementary Art for 2 years... just couldn't hack it! To all of you who do it, my hat is off to you. You are truly my heroes. After enduring 2 painful (yet rewarding) years teaching K-6, I then moved to the HS level in 1995... and never looked back. I love what I do. My focus is on 2-D with some dabbling in 3-D (even taught myself ceramics and firing) and I have had great success with Drawing and 2-D AP Portfolio submissions for over 18 years, averaging a 3.9 score (most 3s and 4s with a spattering of 5s and one 2) with over 70 portfolios submitted....I have yet to be a reader. ONE DAY! -- Having been blessed to teach at an Independent College Prep HS for 23 years, I generally focus on higher-level-thinking and problem solving, but I also know the importance of learning skill and technique in order to understand and create art. I look forward to sharing what has worked well in my classroom and I'm here to find inspiration from you all as well.
