Thank You, Share My Lesson Members!

How is it November? In the Washington, D.C., area, the leaves are turning color, the Halloween decorations are put away (almost) and Mustache November is underway.

November is also a time to acknowledge our veterans, learn about Native American heritage and give thanks. And, as the director of Share My Lesson, it’s easy to be thankful for the contributions of our SML community. Our team loves watching the site come to life as SML members engage online from coast to coast—and country to country—or when an SML member discovers a great resource just in time for class. Your enthusiasm for SML keeps us motivated to do more for you.

For that reason, we want to share the enthusiasm and give thanks to SML members using the site. This month, we are highlighting one member from Arizona and how she uses Share My Lesson.

What do you like best about Share My Lesson?

It is a way for me to network (without social media, since I don’t have social media) with other teachers not only in the area but also out of my area. I can look for lessons not only on a certain topic but also at multiple levels. I am also not limited to just finding “worksheets,” but am able to access PowerPoints, activities, notes, videos, etc.

How has Share My Lesson helped you in the classroom?

I am helping to run a colleague’s class (she is out on maternity leave) with materials to help her sub in the classroom. Since it is a different curriculum than mine, I am able to easily find and access lessons, examples, videos and activities for her class so that they do not get behind.

Would you like us to highlight YOU as one of our Share My Lesson members? Let us know. Looking for a teaching resource for students to highlight and give thanks to family members? Try this StoryCorps teacher toolkit for the Great Thanksgiving Listen.
