The idea that originally started Share My Lesson was simple: We knew that teachers spend hours planning and trying to create the perfect lesson, and we needed to find a way to deliver high-quality teaching resources fast and for free. Figuring out new standards required big transitions and changes to the professional lives of educators, and they needed support. Since Share My Lesson first launched in July 2012, we have been committed to providing educators with free classroom resources aligned to standards, and to easing any difficulty in making these transitions. Many educators have come to rely on Share My Lesson for our resources, and along the way, the teachers we met have let us know what else they need.
At the AFT, we have been listening, and now we hope to help you even more. We are launching a brand new version of Share My Lesson (we like to call it SML 2.0)! The same great resources you already love will be available on the site—and don’t worry, they all will still be free—but we are adding new features to make your job even easier. Here’s a sampling:

- Search for what you’re looking for on any page or browse our easier-to-use grade and subject pages.
- Find collections of vetted resources for specific topics and holidays.
- Get stats about the resources you have uploaded.
- Quickly find resources from our 300 amazing content partners (like NBC Learn and PBS NewsHour Extra).
- Look for a more robust blog and editorial section.
- Check out the new subjects (I’m looking at you, CTE educators!)
- And so much more.
If you’re already using SML, all you have to do is update your password; once you do that, you’ll be able to navigate the site easily. Along the way, let us know what you think. We’ll be constantly improving and tweaking the site, and we’d love to hear your thoughts.
