Discover New Professional Development Opportunities with a Share My Lesson Webinar
High five! We got through September. Phew! If you’re like my family, you are now accustomed to acting like a taxi driver trying to get your kids to multiple after-school events. If you’re like my 12th-grade English teacher husband, you are continually reading and grading stacks of papers that seem like a bottomless pit. Despite this controlled chaos, you’ve found a routine and are reconnecting with items you may have put on the back burner, like diving deep into a new topic or keeping up with the news.
And that’s where AFT’s Share My Lesson comes in—providing you with new resources and content to help delve into current issues. Starting next week, we will be launching our first webinar for the 2019-20 year covering the important topic of immigration.
Join us Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. EDT for a free, for-credit webinar: Exploring Immigration: A Conversation with Journalist Sonia Nazario.
With more than 250 million migrants worldwide, including more than 65 million refugees, migration has sparked intense partisan debate; inspired advocacy; and changed the face of cities, neighborhoods and schools.
Join Facing History and Ourselves, Write the World and AFT's Share My Lesson for a brand-new webinar with Sonia Nazario, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of Enrique’s Journey: The True Story of a Boy Determined to Reunite with His Mother. If you're not yet teaching Enrique's Journey, you will want to after the Oct. 17 webinar.

Throughout the school year, we will be offering many more webinars, which will be announced on our Share My Lesson Webinars Community. Join this community and be the first to know when registration opens for a new webinar. And while you’re at it, save the date for the 2020 Share My Lesson Virtual Conference on March 24-26. We expect more than 20,000 registrations, so you’ll be in good company as you join us for online professional development of your own choosing.
Note: All webinars are available for one hour of PD credit, per your school's or district's approval. And if you can't make the session time, register anyway to have the on-demand link emailed to you, so you can watch at another time.
