About This Lesson

A worksheet that can be used to test multiplication tables. The children write whatever multiplication table they are doing in the star in the middle of the sheet and multiply the number on the outside of the track by that number. They then write the answers of the multiplication table in the boxes in the inside of the track. Lower ability children can be asked to +2; +4; etc; to the number on the outside of the track instead of completing multiplication tables. Give children 2 or 3 minutes to complete the race. Photocopy back to back and ask higher ability children to complete both sides.

Thank you. My niece is practising her 6-8 Timetables and this is very useful and fun at the same time!

What a great tool for DI (differentiating instruction)! Thanks for sharing.

Love this idea. One part of the design that shows your careful thought is starting with 2, 10, 1, and 9, multiples that pupils find easier to learn. I'd suggest moving 5 to an earlier position in the second leg, and moving 11 up into the second leg as well. They are also easier multiples to learn. You give the pupils 3 opportunities to practice multiplying by 9 but only 2 chances to multiply by 7. I'd flip those, because most students have more trouble with 7 than with 9. These are all suggestions for minor alterations of a great activity. Thanks for putting it out there for us.

I love this simple to use worksheet. So great for differentiating instruction. I plan to share it with others. Thanks. BTW - I had no problem printing it out in power point. Just go to file print in power point and it prints out perfectly.
