About This Lesson

<p>How many different triangles can you make which consist of the centre point and two of the points on the edge? Can you work out each of their angles?</p> Aligned to Common Core State Standard: 8.G.5

Use informal arguments to establish facts about the angle sum and exterior angle of triangles, about the angles created when parallel lines are cut by a transversal, and the angle-angle criterion for similarity of triangles.

A very useful and interactive lesson on triangles within circles. Based on the peg and elastic band idea, it allows pupils to place an elastic band over 3 pegs and to work out the angles in the triangles they make. A very nice idea for an investigation lesson into the angles in a triangle. Comes with teacher notes and full solutions.
