About This Lesson

Ask students to think of their own criteria to sort the shape cards into sets.This gives students a chance to look at more advanced properties, such as side length, as they can't use color as a criteria. Aligned with Common Core State Standards: 2.G.1, Reason with shapes and their attributes.

Standards

Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.
