About This Lesson

A complete lesson on 'completing the square' by using a visual representation. Initially; the idea of using rectangles to represent multiplying brackets is used. Next; the numerical term is subtracted; equivalent to subtracting the square from the bottom of the diagram. Finally; the idea of completing the square is introduced by halving the bottom of a rectangle and rearranging the sides along a square of side x.

Love it & misprints...

I love this! Misprints on pages 19 (should be 10 not 8) and 28 (the expression is printed twice)

Superb

I'm a big fan of all your resources Mr. Sjpowermac and you certainly don't disappoint with this one: wow! Completing the Square can be a very difficult topic but with this presentation pupils really get a great feel for what is going on and understand where the topic gets its title. Top marks for a very innovative take on this topic.
