About This Lesson

Send the line moving back and forth, dropping the stacked numbers into place. This game practises place value, forcing constant comparisons between numbers and mental tracking of positions on a number line. This is part of a set of TESiboard games. The complete set includes versions that have number lines that step up in tens, units and 1,2,3 and 4 decimal places. One also shows vulgar fractions on the number tiles. All can be set to work with low numbers and high numbers providing further differentiation. Aligned to Common Core Standard: 4.NF.1, Number and Operations: Fractions.

Standards

Explain why a fraction ?/? is equivalent to a fraction (? × ?)/(? × ?) by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions.
