About This Lesson

This is a starter activity that can be used to either introduce or review pie charts. It uses the Simpsons characters to ask questions about how much of a pie chart is colored in a certain color. It covers how to construct a fraction answer to a simple pie chart question and then how to work out more complex questions.

My students at the PRU loved this presentation, especially when I brought in apple pie as a practical demonstration of dividing up pies!

Simpsons to start pie charts?! Ace - could only have been improved with the addition of percentages. Thanks for sharing

Absolutely brilliant, exactly what I was hoping to find (plus I love the Simpsons!) x

Well made slide show. I like that the level of difficulty increases as the slides progress. It would be great to see how the different grade levels apply the same information(maybe some different phrasing or expectations at various slides) so that those in the lower grades can prepare the students for what comes next, and those in the higher levels can see where difficulties lie from the past. Thanks for sharing!
