About This Lesson

Applied / functional math task - gets students to explore how mobile phone tarrifs work and then investigate some specific pay as you go tarrifs (may need to be updated to be realistic) and plot these on graphs. Series of questions to get students to identify the equations of the lines and analyze what they mean. wrap up to create a new competitive tarrif. This was all inspired by a fab resource I initially found on TES connect to do with mobile phone tarrifs (but I now cannot find it to be able to credit it properly).

A really good resource and a fantastic functional way of teaching the topic of linear graphs. Pupils have to look at different tariffs on offer by some phone companies to decide which is the best, then they have to create their own tariff which would be competitive in the phone market. The resources with this lesson idea are really good. Thanks for sharing!
