About This Lesson
Before introducing classification; placed the various sheets around the room and asked students to stand where they thought the number of species in the world is (1.9m) after they stood where they thought the answer lay and discussed it; I gave them the answer. Using lots of thinking time; got them to think about why scientists classify organisms.
