About This Lesson

Direction is one of the basic geography concepts that students need to master before moving on to reading maps and diagrams. I used this poster to expain the ‘clockwise’ and ‘anti-clockwise’ and the angles (45; 90; 135 degrees etc) between a cardinal and an ordinal direction. A great classroom game too. Afterwards; I used a real map to ask the students to name different places located in different directions. I displayed this poster for the students to relate to when reading maps during their free time.

Teachers could replicate this poster for use in their own classroom
