About This Lesson
WW1 Lesson PP – Western FrontThis is one of several lessons that I have uploaded that covers WW1 for History students. All of the lessons can be taught together; but each covers a topic so can also be picked up separately. For ease of locating; the title stem is the same: " WW1 Lesson PP". This is a full PowerPoint lesson; ready to teach; but you will want to adapt it / update it for your own context and any resources are also uploaded with it. This lesson explores the western front.
There are missing resources (P22-25?) that are needed to complete the assignments. I like the idea of students argueing who is to "blame the most" because it demonstrates they understand cause/ effect. However, it is guided. It does not allow for the students to develop their own opinions on who was to blame, but rather pick from the teacher's list and then provide facts provided by the teacher to support their answer--the student isn't challenged as much as he/she could be. Also, what is with the newspaper resource? it is not mentioned again in the PPT and there is no clear connection to the lesson and the newspaper article. Finally, why is this called the "WW1 Lesson PP – Western Front" when it is actually about who is to blame for the cause of WWI?
