About This Lesson

In this nonfiction text about the Chicago Fire of 1871, students explore the historical truths related to poverty, city construction & city services that led to the disaster. Students are asked to develop an argumentative essay which requires them to analyze both text & historical context. The exemplar includes an appendix with additional reading, websites, and photos.
