About This Lesson

Students work as a group to get their candidate elected Mayor.

Encourage your students to imaging a city where kids are in charge. They work, earn
money, spend money and save money, and also run the government in the city. Discuss
which positions students would run for if you held an election in your imaginary city today.
Which positions are necessary to keep the city running? Ask who is currently serving as
mayor of your city? What other elected officials are students familiar with?
