About This Lesson

This animation shows the simulation of the emission of beta particles from the nucleus of an atom.
In beta decay a netron splits into a proton, an electron and a neutrino (blue) - the energy being shared between the three particles. The beta particles (yellow) therefore have a spread of energy.
