About This Lesson

A powerful and moving anti-bullying lesson. Students will: interpret language as a factor in perpetuating or preventing bullying; identify attitude and behaviors that are consistent with bullying; understand the impact of one person standing up to and speaking out against bullying; examine, through a literary lens, factors that contribute to bullying behavior; develop an understanding of personal language use as a tool to stand up to bullying. This lesson plan on Jamie Nabozny was produced by New York State United Teachers in partnership with the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. BP-SR
