About This Lesson

Shapes in Art can be modified based on the age and ability of the students. For Kindergarten students, read the book Eye Spy Shapes in Art. After the interactive read-aloud, students can create their own collage as the teacher asks the students to find each shape. With more advanced students, read the book Museum Shapes. Have students create their collages. For future lessons, connect to artists like Matisse. Students can write about what their art represents. Aligned ot Common Core State Standard: K.G.2 Appropriate for Early Childhood Education (Pre-K and younger). ECE-AR-cr, ECE-AR
