About This Lesson
This activity has students examine Northern European city-states and their trade problems and come up with solutions that involve cooperation rather than competition. The next problem is competition within towns among the craftsmen. In reality, Leagues solved the first problem and guilds solved the second problem. Have students read the sheet on Leagues and Guilds and compare their solutions to what really happened.
