About This Lesson
The main focus of this lesson is for students to be able to apply their knowledge of area to real-world situations. The two primary elements of this lesson are the problem set and the unit quiz. The problem set, "The Misadventures of Professor Oldstuffolof," is a an amusing series of problems that an archaeologist has on his assignments. The second half of the lesson is a unit quiz. Not only is this a chance for you to see students are progressing, but is also an opportunity for students to further their own learning. Aligned with Common Core State Standard: 6.G.1
I love this lesson with the activities. I was looking for something that had students work on the area of triangles and parallelograms with real world situations. The scenarios presented here are wonderful. There are differentiated activity sheets which are wonderful because they are sectioned out to have the students think and plan through the problem. The PowerPoint is a wonderful launch to the lesson. Thank you for sharing your work!
