About This Lesson
This activity has 4 roles: peasant, lord, merchant, and knight. The goal of each student is to cooperate and form a plan with the other roles in the class to be able to participate in mediterranean trade during the Commercial Revolution. You can start by handing out the Map of Commercial Revolutions Trade Routes, which includes 4 questions related to how Venice, Genoa, and the Hanseatic League traded with the Mongols, Abbasids, Ottomans, and Byzantine empires.
The follow up has students reflect on the process and connect it to the commercial revolution and development of capitalism.
