About This Lesson

Using a plot of the innermost solar system, students can count the number of minor planets (asteroids, comets, etc.) with orbits of less than 1.3 Astronomical Units. The asteroid belt lies between 1.52 AU and 5.2 AU, with a concentration of asteroids at about 2.8 AU. Student and teacher pages are included.
