About This Lesson

The lesson begins with a warm up to activate prior knowledge on measure of center. It then introduces the concept of ordinal vs. nominal data in the launch. The rest of the lesson can be done in two different paths depending on time (see PPT). Lesson Objective: Students will be able to interpret a real life data set, and determine what measure of center will be best for that data set, as well as explain the reasoning for their choice. Language Objective: Students will be able to define and differentiate between the words nominal and ordinal. Aligned to Common Core State Standard: 6.SP.5
