About This Lesson
http://www.freemathvideos.com In this video series we will explore how to graph a quadratic by using a table of values. A quadratic has some unique characteristics that we will explore and use when graphing. The axis of symmetry is the line that a parabola can be reflected across. It is also the line that splits a parabola in half. We will use this line to determine the vertex as well as find values to the left and right of the axis of symmetry. When creating a table we need to first find the axis of symmetry and then choose two x-coordinates to the left and right of the axis of symmetry. We then evaluate for those points and graph the quadratic. To determine the vertex we need to find the maximum or minimum point of the graph. This point has the same x-coordinate of the vertex. The x and y intercepts we will find by observing the graph and determining where the graph crosses the x and y axis.
