When using elimination it is important to have the absolute value of one coefficient for a variable be equal in both equations. If the original problem does not have equal coefficients then we can multiply one or both equations by a multiplier to obtain equal absolute value coefficients. We then will add or subtract the equations to eliminate a given variable. This depends on what operation we need to use to get the coefficients of the variable to zero. This math problem was filmed during online live instruction for class. This is my way of providing a free tutorial for students that want to learn math from an online tutor.
