About This Lesson

This handout has brief explanation of the background to dropping the nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, then provides students with several arguments for and against dropping the nuclear bombs. They must pick a side they agree with (their claim) and then pick the strongest reason supporting that claim, and analyze it in a paragraph. Then they must choose the strongest argument from the opposing side and write a counterclaim paragraph.
