About This Lesson

I wrote this article to show how tensions increased between the superpowers during the 1940s. It asks students to annotate how each event (Soviet Satellites, the Iron Curtain Speech, The Truman Doctrine/Marshall Plan, The Berlin Blockade/Airlift, NATO, The Soviets developing a nuclear bomb, and the Chinese Communist Revolution) increased tensions between the US and Soviet Union. It also includes maps and a political cartoon.
