About This Lesson

There are approximately seven billion people living on Earth. Most people have difficulty conceptualizing such a large number. This activity has students use riddles and cooperative learning activities to represent the number one million as they work through problems and visualize millions and billions of people and things using mathematical computation. You can then take these exercises one step further by having students visualize and compute formulas for one billion of each object. Find more lessons like this at www.populationeducation.org.
