About This Lesson

PPTX FORMATTED LESSON PLANS

Students engage with King’s text as a persuasive essay, continuing to build skills for close reading and rhetorical analysis as well as developing their ability to identify and evaluate the claims an author uses in support of his argument. At the same time, students work to strengthen their analytical skills through written assessments and collaborative discussions in which they learn to articulate and support their ideas using textual evidence. By examining the text alongside three poems, students begin to consider how these different texts develop common central ideas about human rights.

This lesson plan is great! The close reading activities are good and will provide opportunity for thoughtful conversation with the students!

This lesson went over

This lesson went over excellently with my advanced ESL students in Tbilisi. We focused on the issues of religion and race relations as well as learned close reading skills.

This lesson plan literally

This lesson plan literally fell on my lap and I love it. It's just enough direct instruction and plenty of worksheets to use to help students understand what MLK was going through while writing this letter in his jail cell. Even I learned quite a bit while reading this lesson. I'm looking forward to using this in my classroom and the discussions this will generate among my students. Thank you so much for this. This will be very helpful.

Mr. Zendejas,

Mr. Zendejas,

Thank you for your wonderful and detailed review. I greatly appreciate it. I am happy to share my lesson plans, but even more so when a fellow teacher takes time to review the lessons. I can only hope that more of our colleagues will extend their kindness and courtesy by rating the lessons they download.
