About This Lesson

Students simulate the different philosophies in Zhou China. Students are divided into groups of four. Each group gets four role sheets.

Tell students that they will be recreating the scene when the Zhou emperor invited scholars to his court to help him reestablish control over his subjects.  The king will allow each philosopher to present his/her ideas.  Students read their scenario, prepare an argument for the king. Each advisor will have one minute to present his argument to the king.
