About This Lesson
An Instructional text is a non-fiction text which gives instructions on how to do something or how to complete a task.
a.It is a non-fiction text, i.e. a text talking about real life event.
b.It tells us how to do things.
c.It is written in bullet points or it is numbered.
d.It usually uses one sentence for each step.
e.Most times, it starts each step with a verb, e.g. put, take, pour, add, etc.
f.It sometimes uses adverbs to make things clearer, e.g: ‘tightly’, ‘carefully’, etc.
g.Connectives are used, e.g. first, then…
h.It sometimes uses diagrams or pictures.
