With recent concerns over technology companies’ use of consumer data and multiple large-scale data breaches, governments around the world have started to impose laws protecting consumer privacy and data. This deliberation looks at current data protection laws in the European Union and California and has students explore the best way to protect data privacy at the federal level. Students will use this information to address the deliberation question:
What type of policy should the federal government enact to protect data privacy?
