Freedom to teach, to me, means being given the time, the resources, and the respect to do my job.

We don't go into this profession without passion for kids. Freedom to teach means letting the professionals do the job that they have been trained to do, to do what is absolutely best for all kids, and keep parents out of the classroom unless they are there to truly help and do for the greater good! Freedom to teach is an opportunity to engage kids and instill a personal passion for their own learning through facilitating meaningful activities and lessons that can be driven further by the student's interests, and commonly can and should be self-initiated. Freedom to teach means having some flexibility and allow our teachers to give the appropriate guidance to their students so that they can have voice and choice in how they best learn. Freedom to teach feels like an art that is gradually and deliberately being taken away; soon to be lost. However, I will continue to fight the good fight until I retire! I will continue to coach and mentor and encourage all of our new teachers! I choose to be their Marigold!
