About This Lesson

Mariama, a teenager from war-torn Sierra Leone, is the voice of the future. Not only is she the first in her family to be educated, she has her own radio show, big dreams, and boundless imagination. “Now there’s nothing to stop me. Nothing in the world. Nothing in the universe.”

This lesson is part of a collection of topics on Share My Lesson from Girl Rising that work in conjunction. It includes the Mariama video chapter, a teacher and film viewing guide, background information on Sierra Leone, and issue fact sheets about Family Support and Influence and Cultural Influences
