About This Lesson

This workshop looks at how AI can help students tackle more advanced writing tasks, like forming strong arguments, analyzing sources, or writing research papers. We’ll try out AI writing tools, grammar checkers, and feedback systems that help students refine their drafts without doing all the thinking for them. Through short, interactive tasks, we’ll see how to guide students in using AI suggestions wisely—so they learn to evaluate and improve on AI outputs rather than just accept them. We’ll wrap up by outlining a high-level writing assignment that includes checkpoints where AI can offer helpful tips, and students can practice critical thinking about their own writing.

Presenters: Sam Canning-Kaplan (OAI), Sara Baldassar (Clev), Tiffany Jefferson (UFT)
