I like the questions that you ask. I like the one about including rests. I like the way that the children don't have to play in time with a beat - as long as they are repeating something in a group, that is achievement!

This is a really great idea. When I start my ostinato unit, we'll broaden the concept to include other movies and then post our compositions on the bulletin board as a "Music Class Goes to the Movies" theme...which will then bridge us into a short unit on how music is used in movies to change the mood/set the scene. Thank you for sharing!
