About This Lesson

In this authentic task, students will collaborate in pairs to design a new planet for The Little Prince to visit. The planet must be built around the principles of sustainability, incorporating key aspects such as SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) or SDG 13 (Climate Action). Students will focus on features like renewable energy, waste management, eco-friendly architecture, and green spaces that promote the well-being of both the environment and its inhabitants.

As part of the task, students will write a new chapter that seamlessly integrates into the existing narrative, maintaining the unique style and tone of the original author. They will also establish their own success criteria to ensure their chapter aligns with the themes and structure of the novel, creating a meaningful and cohesive addition to The Little Prince.

In addition to composing a new chapter, students will design and develop their own planet, ensuring it aligns with the themes and elements explored in the chapter of The Little Prince. The planet should be visually engaging and reflect the unique features and experiences described in the narrative. Students may choose to create a 3D model, draw a detailed blueprint, or design it digitally.
