Mrs. Alisa Payne
Passionate Educator and explorer of professional development with Instructional Coaching and Educational Technology.
After graduating from Viterbo University in 2004, I embarked on a journey in education that has taken me across the United States. I began my career in Colorado, where I devoted my passion for teaching to fifth-grade students. From there, I continued to impact young minds in Tennessee and New Jersey, honing my skills and expanding my pedagogical repertoire.
In 2012, I returned to the Midwest, where I embraced the role of a substitute teacher. Over the years, I filled various long-term substitute positions, often stepping in to support classrooms during maternity leaves. Through nine such positions, I gained invaluable experience and a deep understanding of diverse educational environments.
In 2020, I transitioned to a new chapter of my career as a middle school English Language Arts teacher at MN Virtual Academy. For two and a half years, I nurtured a virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and growth. Building upon my teaching expertise, I recently assumed the role of an Instructional Coach, where I have the privilege of working closely with elementary and middle school staff members, supporting their professional development and fostering excellence in education.
Always curious, I thrive on exploring the intersections of education. With a background in English and language arts, I've embarked on a journey to achieving an MA in Educational Technology, driven by a deep-seated curiosity and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Recently, I undertook the Certified Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training, where I will serve as an instructor for our district. This certification is a significant addition to my educational qualifications, as it equips me with the necessary skills to support staff in managing crisis situations effectively, particularly in the realm of Special Education (SPED). As an instructional coach, I am committed to continuously enhancing my expertise to better serve our educators and students.
As a global citizen, I've had the privilege of experiencing diverse cultures and perspectives, shaping my worldview and enriching my understanding of education and more specifically, our online setting here at MNVA.
Beyond the professional realm, I find inspiration in many outdoor adventures, whether it's kayaking, four-wheeling, or state park exploring. These passions fuel my creativity and serve as a refreshing counterbalance to the rigors of education.
Join me on this journey as we delve into the endless possibilities of education in the virtual world, exploring, learning, and growing together!
