Amy is the Assistant Director of SMART Family Literacy, an outreach based non-profit with focus on early childhood literacy, health literacy, and dual language learning. SMART provides community based family events, school gardening initiatives that support literacy, as well as professional development for early childhood educators. Amy is a registered trainer with the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System.
Amy completed her BS in Marine Biology at Texas A&M University at Galveston in 2005 and her M.Ed. in school administration in 2009. As a Texas teacher, she holds certifications in 8-12 Life Science, English as a Second Language, Gifted and Talented Instruction, and Virtual Instruction.
She has served 7 years on the Board of Directors for the Children's Coalition in Galveston, TX.
