Hello, I am a retired Special Education teacher and Special Education Coordinator ( TEAM Chair and Curriculum Development) from a large urban public school district. I have received Equity training and continue to advocate for equitable opportunities in education for all students.I am currently an Educational Consultant and work withh families and other professionals in ascertaining the Special Education laws and protocols are provided for students as documented in their respective IEPs. I am also a parent and grandparent and continue to be active in the educational process, especially now with the pandemic and impact on all students. I am an MCAS Alternate Portfolio Assessment specialist and work with teachers across Massachusetts in development of Portfolio Assessments for their respective students- I was one of the first teachers called upon at the initiation of the Portfolio Assessment process to develop Portfolios for my students and have volunteered my time to support other teachers as needed through this process. For me, education is the means to understanding and becoming more aware of the whole person- the more you understand, the more you are likely to be able to make good decisions that bring positivity to everyone, not just yourself. I have witnessed my students growing and thriving and those with whom I have maintained contact are proud of who they have become and are "paying it forward" to others, including their own children.
Proud to be an educator, proud to stand for what I believe in, Proud to be a member of AFT/MFT and do what I can to make the changes we need to go forward!
