I've been teaching since I was 12 to 14 years old. Back in 1977 or 1979 I have been in the childcare field for at least 43 to 45 years. When I was 12 or 14 years old I did my first babysitting job for a friend of my mother. They live in the same building as me and my mom. She was called the Mother Hen of the building because she watched all the children in the building,and I would help her make sure they had Nutrition meals and snacks Helps with Homework Play games and read stories to them. If they had to spend the night, help prepare them for bed. Make sure their clothes are clean for the next day. I also have medical field background as a Home Health Aide and Nurse Aide/Assistant since 1985- 38 years
I'm a mother of 3 grown children and 5 grand children I have been married for 30 years and been with my high School sweetheart since 1982
Now I’m working at an Elementary School for Chesterfield County Public School District since 2021- Present, grade Early Childhood PreSchool students through 5th grade I assist with the Lead Teacher Help with small and large groups with their assigned work at A.M. Davis Elementary School Early Preschool and Expectations Children through 5th grade I also work for Richmond Public Schools District since April 13, 2023 as a Day to Day Instructional Assistant and Substitute Teacher at Westover Hill Elementary School Early Preschool through 5th grade.
My Primary role of an instructional assistant (IA) is to assist the teacher in all facets of daily classroom management. This can vary between teachers, schools and districts, but most IAs can expect to divide their time between working with students, providing behavioral support and completing administrative tasks assigned by the teacher.
