About This Webinar

SEL isn’t one more thing on the plate; it IS the plate.""– Dr. Kimberly Schonert-Reichl

In today’s educational landscape, the importance of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is more apparent than ever. SEL is not an additional task for educators but the foundation upon which successful, supportive, and safe classrooms are built. To ensure our students thrive academically and emotionally, it is crucial to equip them with the tools to address their social-emotional needs effectively.

But what if we take SEL a step further? What if we create a school culture that empowers both students and teachers to actively care for themselves and intentionally extend that care to others? In this session, we will explore what we are calling ""active well-being practices""—a transformative approach where students apply SEL skills such as mindfulness, gratitude, empathy, and compassion in real-world contexts by using them to empower others and even complete service-learning projects. These practices not only nurture self-care but also help create a nurturing school environment where students and teachers uplifting each other and their community is common practice.

By the end of this session, educators will leave with practical ideas and an overview of how our free, CASEL-accredited curriculum resources can help them implement active well-being practices in their schools. This session aims to inspire a culture of care that enhances the educational experience and fosters a more compassionate and engaged school community.

Senior Manager of Educational Programming, Education+

For 14 years, I had the privilege of teaching K-2 students, and I absolutely LOVED it! Building meaningful relationships with my students was the heart of my teaching, and while I miss those daily connections, my passion for supporting educators has only grown.

Teachers have one of the toughest—and most important—jobs in the world. They deserve to feel confident, empowered, and supported in their classrooms. That’s why my role as Senior Manager of Educational Programming at Education+ is the perfect fit. I have the incredible opportunity to work with and uplift educators, providing them with the resources, strategies, and encouragement they need to foster well-being for themselves and their students. I’m committed to helping teachers create thriving classrooms, strong communities, and a positive impact on the next generation.

I also received my Master's in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida.
