In this session, we will explore the Library of Congress’ vast free digital resources with an eye toward collections especially useful for teachers of every subject. The materials include audio, film, video, maps, children’s books and games, letters, photos, oral histories and political cartoons. The items are from every community and state in the nation, as well as shared collections with libraries worldwide. Participants will engage in sample analysis activities that can be modified easily to meet their own teaching needs. In addition, the Library of Congress' Teaching with Primary Sources Teacher Network which provides an online community and resources will be incorporated into the session. Civics, Government, US History, Geography, and ELA will be a few of the subjects covered in the sample activities.
