About This Webinar
Join Journeys in Film and Share My Lesson for a webinar that utilizes the film Hidden Figures as an example to guide how to use film to teach across the curriculum.
Journeys in Film harnesses the power of film to support teachers with free standards-based interdisciplinary educational curricula that inspires learning and prepares the next generation to be globally competent citizens. Our recent film based curriculum guides have featured lessons to support National Geographic Channel’s Jane, The Music of Strangers and He Named Me Malala.
Using the Academy award-nominated film Hidden Figures, this webinar will guide educators to resource techniques in teaching with film while addressing Common Core objectives. Grounded in the triumphant journey of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughn and Mary Jackson, three black women mathematicians who worked in the NASA space program, participants will explore our lessons on the civil rights movement, the Cold War, and the space race as tool to address gender equity in STEM fields when teaching across subjects for their own classroom.
