Holocaust Remembrance: Lesson Plans and Resources

About This Collection

Teaching Holocaust Remembrance

International Holocaust Remembrance Day is observed each January 27, while its counterpart, Yom Hashoah, is commemorated each spring. These occasions remind us of the critical need to teach about the Holocaust and equip students to counter disinformation and denial surrounding its history—important lessons for any time of year.

Unfortunately, a lack of Holocaust knowledge is pervasive among today’s students. A 2025 study by the ADL revealed that nearly half of adults worldwide hold antisemitic views, with 21% believing the Holocaust is exaggerated or never happened and 20% having never heard of it. This gap in understanding leaves young people vulnerable to disinformation, making education on the Holocaust more essential than ever.

Teaching about human suffering and horrific tragedies can be challenging, but the need for educators to address these knowledge gaps is undeniable. Share My Lesson has partnered with organizations like the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Facing History & Ourselves, Echoes & Reflections, and others to create this collection of free Holocaust lesson plans and educational resources. These tools empower educators to raise awareness about "The Shoah," help students analyze its lasting impact, and combat denial and misinformation effectively.
