About This Lesson

This is a long-term assignment that asks students to put the characters from Lord of the Flies on Trial. The question is, "who contributed most to the tragedy on the island?" You may think it's an open and shut case, but you'll be surprised at what students come up with. They are responsible for writing speeches, bringing in evidence, and cross-examining witnesses. This is a whole load of fun, and makes reading the book much more enjoyable. Aligned to Common Core State Standard: RL.9-10.10
