      About This Lesson

      This is the second lesson in a math unit, Unified Understanding of Numbers, where students will be able to extend addition to all rational numbers, maintaining the properties of operations and the relationships in addition with a particular emphasis on number line addition. This will position them for the use of the arithmetic of rational numbers as preparation for the formulation of expressions and equations and using this knowledge to solve them. This unit was developed by Bev Voos using a Lesson Plan template (included) chosen by the AFT Common Core cadre for lesson sharing. CCSS: 7.NS.1
