About This Lesson

This role play is a choose your own adventure format - students play the role of a House representative from Maryland, and for events in 1863, 65, 67, 68, 71, and 75, they are faced with several dilemmas: ratifying the 13th Amendment, going easy on the South, voting for Reconstruction Acts, impeaching Andrew Johnson, passing the KKK Act, and ending Reconstruction. If they choose one way, it keeps them in power to make more decisions, but a wrong vote gets them voted out of Congress. It is formatted for google classroom.
